Turbo Arrow

The Airflow Systems intercooler was selected by "Aviation Consumer" as the most efficient FAA Certified intercooler available for the Piper Turbo Arrow and Turbo Dakota.

Using proprietary technology and extensive flight test work, Airflow Systems was able to develop an intercooler kit that offered superior performance, ease of installation and improved safety over the intercooler previously available in the marketplace. Specifically, the Airflow Systems intercooler offers the following advantages:

• A 40% larger heat exchanger core results in less turbo backpressure and more cooling area for greater efficiency. This efficiency can be seen on the new Power Chart shown below. Compare these power settings with the original factory Power Chart.
    

Despite the larger core size the complete intercooler installation weighs less than 10 lbs, a savings of 5 lbs. over the other kits available.

• The new Power Charts provided eliminate the need for a differential temperature gage and reduce the pilot workload.
  
• Overboost protection is retained through proper positioning of the factory overboost valve. This protection is not available on other intercoolers made for this aircraft.
  
• The original Alternate Engine Air system is retained giving the pilot complete control over its operation.

• Ease of installation allows a local FBO to install the kit in 15 hours or less. All necessary hardware for installation is supplied with the kit and no special tools are required. No painting is required if the aircraft is factory white on the lower cowl.
  
• Maintenance is facilitated by easy removal of the intercooler. Removing three bolts and three hose clamps allows removal of the intercooler.
  
• The Airflow Systems intercooler in compatible with the Merlyn Wastegate.
  
• A minimal advertising budget and strict cost controls have allowed Airflow Systems to maintain the price of the Turbo Arrow/Turbo Dakota intercooler kit at $4,795. With the cost of a new cylinder running over $1,000 installed this intercooler is indeed an excellent investment.
