The founder of Airflow Systems saved up for two years to buy his first Porsche 356 in 1968. Multiple Porsches (more 356s, 912s, 911s, a Boxster and a fun ride in a rare Porsche powered aircraft ) later he is still fascinated by the approach Porsche takes to the design and manufacture of their vehicles.
While exceptional in design, Porsches are not flawless. After experiencing two separate failures of stock oil coolers on a 912 used for auto crossing, and with the encouragement of the late Duane Spencer of Shasta Design Engineering, it was time to apply Airflow Systems’ 15 years of high-performance aircraft heat exchanger design experience to a new Porsche® 356/912 oil cooler. Proprietary software was used to obtain the optimum balance between maximum oil cooling with minimum oil pressure loss and improved airflow to cylinders number 3 and 4. By utilizing the latest in heat transfer fin design, the Airflow Systems oil cooler allows more air to pass through the cooler which promotes even cylinder temperatures without an external oil cooler.
Manufactured in the USA to aircraft standards, our high-quality construction incorporates a Quality Control program that includes 100% pressure testing of each cooler prior to shipment.
With 1,000 units delivered worldwide, these coolers are used on vintage race and rally cars as well as street cars where the owners want the very best. Sometimes copied, never equaled.
